Trilibis Mobile announced earlier this week that they would be launched a new social phonebook called Orbit before the end of the year. Orbit is a cross-platform, cross-network, cross-device mobile social phonebook that will organizes all of your communication channels: voice, text, e-mail and social networking. While the app looks like a phone book primarily, it also shows your friends’ recent Twitter and Facebook status updates, and gives you the ability to create groups called “orbits”. By managing these “orbits” you can sort, organize and guide your way through the social networking noise. Plus, since it is a full functioning iPhone application, you can also initiate a call, text or email from within the app.

Some of the key features noted in the companies press release earlier this week are:

  • Core Controls – The phonebook operates just like your existing phonebook; make calls, send text messages and emails.
  • Orbits – Create an “Inner Orbit” to manage your friends lists.
  • Social Volume – Control the level of communication from your groups of contacts by time of day, day of week, type of feed, birthdays, etc.
  • Connected Phonebook – The app organizes and consolidates contacts and auto-generates a favorites list based on the people you communicate with the most.

The Orbit app is set to come out on the iPhone and BlackBerry before the end of the year.  Just in time for the holidays.  With the numerous streams from Facebook and Twitter most people sort through each day – of yeah, don’t forget about good old e-mail and text as well – the Orbit app is a pretty compelling social organizer app.  Will be very interested to see if the app is all it is presented to be when it launches.

How do you manage your multiple streams of social data today?
