Facebook introduces contact importer for other social networks

In a recent effort by Facebook to overtake Google’s social networking platform,Orkut, in India and Brazil – they have released a new Orkut Import Tool. The tool is designed specifically for Orkut users in these two countries (where Orkut has historically maintained social networking dominance) to easily importer all of their Orkut contacts to Facebook. Clearly Facebook has begun its siege on neighboring countries to oust all incumbent social networking players. As highlighted by TechCrunch, Facebook has been aggressively expanding its presence in India and Brazil by launching a number of localized features.

All this activity taken into account, how soon until Google announces the launch version of Google Wave will be completely integrated with Orkut? Stay tuned…
