Twitter has confirmed on their Google Groups page that they will be shortly releasing their new Geolocation API as recent reported by TechCrunch. It’s important to note that the feature will be “opt-in” upon launch.
This is potentially an extremely powerful (and potentially scary) new feature. Now, as you Tweet all your Followers will know exactly where you are – - – cool for some, stalker for other.

This isn’t necessarily totally new to social media applications. Google has launched its Latitude service which is a location-based social network that display your contacts locations. Plus, Facebook has integrated “location” into its iPhone app.
Social media applications are redefining communication at such a rapid pace – are you ready for it? Personally, I think its pretty awesome (to quote my son).
