Next PlayStation 3 update – Facebook integration

Considered still in the rumor stages, it looks like the next Sony PlayStation 3 firmware update will included console integration with Facebook.  Leaked screen shots buried within a publicly available section of Sony’s European website shows the native Facebook integration, see screen shots below:

The long awaited move by Sony looks like its coming to the public right on the heals of the new Xbox LIVE Dashboard Update that adds social networking integrations with Facebook, Twitter and last.fm – albeit not available yet to everyone.

As our games become more and more social, the ability to integrate your social media stream directly into the games – and now the consoles themselves – will continue the expansion of social entertainment.  Interactivity with entertainment is clearly becoming a “killer app” in the social media revolution.
